Anatoly Karpov's International Chess Cup for School Kids U-12 in frame of VII International Chess Festival



June 24 - July 3, 2019, Platja d'Aro, Girona, Spain.

1. Invitation

1.1. Anatoly Karpov's International Chess Schools with the collaboration of International Chess School Union (ISCU),  Costa Brava Chess School, Platja d'Aro Chess Club and the Town Hall of Castell-Platja d'Aro, have the honor to invite young chess players (boys and girls of U-8, U-10 and U-12 categories) to participate in the Anatolian Kàrpov U-12 Inter-School Cup that will be held in Playa d'Aro, at the AROMAR hotel, from June 24 to July 3, 2019 in frame of the VII International Platja d'Aro Chess Festival (

2. Partcipants

All students of Anatoly Kàrpov's schools, as well as all the young players of schools, sports entities and clubs or chess workshops are invited to participate. The registration is limited to 150 players. The competition will be divided into six groups according to the age of the players and separating the feminine and male groups. In case the female group had less than ten players, it will be unified with the male group corresponding to the same age.

2.2. The players mentioned above will be able to participate, which until January 1, 2019, will not have reached the following ages:
         7-8 years. Date of birth: January 1, 2011 or later - U-8 Tournament;
         9 - 10 years. Date of birth: January 1, 2009/2010 - U-10 tournament;

         11-12 years. Date of birth: January 1, 2007/2008 - Tournament U-12.

                In case there is no necessary minimum of players for splitting the tournament into 6 groups, the game will be held in a single group of schoolchildren under 12 years of age.

When registering a player, the father or representative (companion or coach) must present a copy of the passport or DNI to verify their personal data. All the players must have at least one companion and the companions can take charge of a maximum of 4 players.

2.3. All participants (players, parents and / or accompanying persons) must stay at the official Festival hotel and the reservation must be done through the Tournament Organization.

2.4. Hotel and travel expenses for players and accompanying persons plus the registration fee will be paid by the participants, that is, parents, sponsoring clubs or schools.

3. Participation conditions - registration fee, payment terms until June 15, 2019

3.1. The registration fee is 50 Euros for each player and also for each companion up to a maximum of 4 players. You must pay by transfer to the Organizing Club until May 25, 2019. Registration fee includes 2 tournaments (classic and fast games). The reservation of the hotel will be made for players and their families when they have confirmed the participation and have entered the relevant quotas.

4. Registration (REGISTRATION) - before June 15, 2019.

4.1. To register a player in the tournament, you must give your name and surname, country of residence, federation, ID and Elo FIDE, title (if any), and also the details of the companion (parents or coaches). The application must be filled in with the name and surname of the player's representatives, telephone number and email.

5. PAYMENT OF REGISTRATIONS - terms until June 15, 2019.

5.1. All payments (registration fees and hotel reservations) must be made by bank transfer to the Club Organizer account.

5.2. Payment costs are at charge of the part which arrange the bank transfer.

6. Accommodation and food plan.

         6.1.Participants (players, parents and companions) will be accommodated in the 4-star AROMAR hotel, where all Cup games will be played. The number of rooms in the AROMAR hotel is limited to 150 people - approximately 75 rooms. In case the rooms were complete, the organizers reserve the right to accommodate the rest of the participants in a hotel with the same conditions.

         6.2. Hotel AROMAR has Wi-Fi Internet as well in the rooms s in the common areas.

6.3. The payment of the fees and the hotel must be paid in EUROS.

6.4. The price includes accommodation and full board - 3 times a day starting June 24 (dinner) until July 4, 2019 (breakfast). The price per person and day is: EUR 60 in a double room for a child Sub-12 and EUR 90 for the companion In the DELFIN apartments, EUR 55 for a child under 12 and EUR 75 for the companion (minimum 4 people).

7. Visa.

7.1. All participants that need a visa to enter Spain must incorporate the invitation letter request and confirmation of the accommodation upon registration. This request must be accompanied by the copy of the passport of the player and all the parents and companions who need the visa. Registration and reservation of the hotel must be paid at the time of requesting the visa. The Organizing Club will send the visa documents by email.

9. Tournament system

9.1. The tournament system will follow the rules of ECU and FIDE, Swiss system in 7 rounds (the national ELO does not count in the initial ranking). Time control: 90 minutes for all games with an increase of 30 seconds per play, from the start (classic) and 10 minutes + 5 seconds per play (rapid).

9.2. Tie: The winners will be determined by the sum of points obtained (added for each tournament of classic and rapid). In case of tie the following criteria will be applied (results in classic match predominates):

a Result of the game between the two players
b Medium Buchholz
c Buchhoz
d Maximum number of victories
e Maximum number of victories with blacks

9.3.The maximum delay for each game is 30 minutes, in each round for classic games, for rapids all the time allowed for a player.

10. Awards.

10.1. The champions of each category will be proclaimed Winners of Anatoly Kárpov's International School Cup U-8/10/12 of the year 2019.

10.2. Classification: The 6 Champions of Anatoly Kárpov's International School Cup - 8/10/12  of the year 2019 will be classified to play the World Championship between Cadets of apid and Blitz 2019 (Minsk, Belarus, 15-19 of August 2019) registering through their national federations with the support of the International School Chess Union (ISCU).

10.3. The 6 Champions (3 boys + 3 girls) of Anatoly Kárpov's International School's Cup - 8/10/12 of 2019 have the right to receive accommodation expenses 1 double room with breakfast (player + companion) in Minsk and registration fee to participate in the Championship, equivalent to 350 euros for each champion. In the case of renouncing the participation in the Cadets Championship, the amount equivalent to the prize in Euros can not be reimbursed. If the tournaments will be held in a single group of kids under 12 years old, the right to participate in the 2019 Cadet World Championship will have: 1 Cup winner and the best in each category up to 8, under 10 and under 12 (if players in each category will be at least 25% of the total number of players), as well as the best girl (assuming that the number of girls in the tournament will be at least 25% of the total number of players).

10.4. The best 3 players of each group will also be awarded with cups, medals and diplomas from the Anatoly Kàrpov's Schools and / or ISCU.

10.5. The top 3 of the Rapid Tournament will also be awarded (with cups, medals and diplomas from Anatoly Kárpov's Schools and / or ISCU.

11. Transfer

Participants, players, parents and companions will assume the transfer costs of the airport to the hotel. The Organizing Club will make transfers in groups (30-40 people) from the Barcelona-El Prat Airport.

The Organizing Club will accept the requests for Airport-Hotel-Airport transfers until June 15, 2019. The request must indicate the flight number and time of return, arrival and departure, and also the number of passengers.

The Organizing Club will have 4-6 buses running between 12 and 19 hours on June 24 and July 4 for transfers in groups.

Individual transfer (taxi, 4 people x 1 car) costs between 150-200 EUROS but only one way.

12. Additional program.

12.1. For boys and girls: visits to the Legends Tournament (Anatóly Kàrpov, Ljubomir Ljubojevic, Rafael Vaganian i Oleg Romanishin) from June 25 until July 1, 2019.

12.2. For adults: free entry to the Open of the Festival.

12.3. For all: guided tours with professionals, sports and leisure activities, and beach activities.

12.4. Summer Sessions at the Anatoly Kàrpov';s Schools or the Educhess Campus (price to consult).
